Will the engine and tranny fit????

Featured Replies

I am looking at a 1999 outback, with the enine and auto tranny fit from a 2004 wrecked forester? Needing to find a new home for this engine and tranny with 70k miles, hopefully this will work

Yes it will physically fit. You may need to swap the engine wiring harness to allow for everything to hook up, or you may need to swap the ECU. Are both engine's the same type of engine? (ej25?)

You may also need to swap the rear diff over from the forester if it has a different final drive ratio.

Fit as in bolt in, yes. Wiring is another story. Yours is phase 1 the 04 is Phase 2. Lots of differences and not worth it IMO.

Your Forester will have a 4.444 rear; not sure what the final drive is on your current car.

Lots of extra work in my opinion. Just drop in a 95 2.2 and you will be lot happier. It is a direct plug and play. Do a search on this and you see what I mean.
