97 OBW 5spd 2.5l to a 2.2l what years fit???

Featured Replies

ok, so anyone following my other post will see the reason for this one. i bought a 97 OBW 5spd and basically got hosed b-cuz it had a bad HG or HGs. so if i were to swap in a 2.2l what years are an exact fit? and does the donor car have to be auto/standard/ or any inparticular thing i should need to know. i know ill need a Y-pipe from the 2.2l, other than that though i have no clue what years interchange without having to change ECMs and stuff. thanks in advance for the input!!

The 2.2 needs to be from an automatic car with an EGR valve. 95-98 will work. 95 uses the same dual port y pipe. 96-98 you need to get the matching single port y pipe.

Just keep in mind that '95 and '96 are non-interference engines. They became interference designs in '97.

also if yours is a 5sp i doubt it will have a EGR so honestly any year 2.2 from 90-98 will work, you just need a 96-98 intake manifold so it will plug into the car harness.

All 2.5's 96-99 have EGR, 5 speed or auto doesn't matter it has one. Any 2.2 95-98 with EGR will plug in and work
