95 legacy tranny no traction after flood waters

Featured Replies

So I happen to have had a mishap with water... After that the tranny lost all gears and even after changing fluids it did not help at all... What else should I do... Is the tranny toasted? Mind that it grabs first when I start. Then after 2 mnts it stops grabbing and it feels like it is in park...

yes shady stupid auto lol.... now it got a bit better after the 5th flush and i ran some trans flush in it too.... i got another 2 flushes to go

no luck... seems like the trans is shot... now no money no car to get to work and no car to get to therapy... this really bites

Yeah water damage is almost always an instant killer for automatic transmissions. It damages the clutch packs and wreaks havoc on electrical parts (shift solenoids). Can also clog up the valve body with sludge. Time for a used transmission to swap in.

I have a used 95 auto trans for a front wheel drive. It has 116 K on it and it shifts smooth. Just came out of donor car Friday.

I offered the use of my Legacy for a couple weeks if needed

too bad it is not a match. Very cool of you to offer up a loaner.

Ya know...if you're in a pinch, FWD is MUCH better than NWD (No Wheels to Drive).

ok so car is in the shop.... trans taken apart.. the problem was that something went wrong inside destroying lots of things with it.. after all it wasnt the water that was the problem< it was self destruction.. poor subarina is trying to commit suicide!!!:lol::lol: anyway the shop is doing a complete rebuild for 2300 and they will let me pay them in 5 easy payments sigh... still ouch!!!!

If it's not too late I have an Outback parts car with a 5 speed and everything to convert yours.
