desdinova
i rebuilt my motor and when i put it back the fuel pump didnt work . i could hard wire it from the battery and it ran . chiltons showed it wired staight into the voltage regulator , so i replaced it to no avail . i took it to a shop . they said the pump was drawing 20 amps and frying my voltage regulator . i needed a new pump , an inline 5 amp fuse a new regulator . they wanted $660 so i brought it home and did those things myself . it started but smoke rose from the new regulator and there is a small heat damage mark on the side of the regulator . it's like i have two wires crossed or have missed a ground . please help . oh and does anyone have an early 80's regulator with the round plug . thanks . jim . GeneralDisorder
Just convert it to an internally regulated alternator and get a later 80's fuel pump control unit for the pump. There's a few guides on here on how to do that - it's not at all difficult. GD
