1996 Legacy Lsi. I found a connector taped up inside the door panel wiring harness. What is it for?

 

I'm thinking tweeter speakers?

 

I originally thought it would be for the heated side view mirrors, but no such luck. I have a set of Legacy heated side view mirrors and the plug is different, so it's not that.

its for the tweeter option

read the recent post on adding heated mirrors about what i posted, definitely the plug is not there for heated mirrors on some models, but it is for tweeter.

Is the connector spliced into the door speaker pair...I don't think there's a separate wire pair going to the head unit for tweeters...thought there was eight speaker wires standard (four pairs, one per corner)

 

hmmm...that might explain the 2-pin connector taped into the rear harness (near right taillight) of the '96 obs...
