I am the proud owner of an 84 brat virtually rust free. It runs great but i just need.... more! I have been doing a fair amount of research on brats and was on this forum before with my last brat before it got totaled. I will very soon be getting a 4 inch body lift, which from what i have read is the first step to allowing a different engine. I am not looking for anything extravagent i just want to keep my 4 wheel drive, and have a little extra power to get up and down mountains. Im tired of being passed by 18 wheelers because my little brat can't handle 4th gear uphill. So I guess what Im wondering is what's the easiest way to get the swap? Do i need to just get the entire drive system from a vehicle with an ej22 or do i just need to get the ej22 engine and transmission. So I guess id like to know if anyone has what i need for sale or knows where i could get what i need. There's a brat guru i am told who makes an adapter plate for the ej22 to fit the brat body or something i can't remember exactly what it is. I just in general need help.

only thing I will comment on now, is that a body lift is definitely not necessary for an engine swap.

i'll add that buying a complete vehicle is much simpler than piecing it together and not hard to do cheaper. it's easier to buy a complete car (wrecked, rusted, etc) than buying all the little bits you need.

There's a brat guru i am told who makes an adapter plate for the ej22 to fit the brat body .

 

I make and sell the adapter that allows you to install a newer EJ moter onto your Brat tranny , I also redrill the flywheel to bolt up
