December 10, 200916 yr My 1999 2.2L SOHC Legacy Brighton Wagon is a PHASE II engine; Is that correct? Manufacter date of: 8/99 , PHASE I is '90 - 98, and PHASE II is '99 only? Is this correct?
December 10, 200916 yr Yes, sounds like you got it right. I don't believe it's just a single year though - the 99-2002..or whenever the last year for the EJ22 was should all be Phase II and interchangeable with minor adaptations if any at all. If you're familiar with the Phase I motors, it's really easy to tell just by looking, the newer ones look a good bit different, it's not like it's "hard to tell". The spark plug wire position is a dead give away.
December 10, 200916 yr Yes, Phase II engines went into the '99 models. However, there were some less extensive changes in '97 that made the 2.2 an interference engine, if that's a consideration.
December 10, 200916 yr PHASE II is '99 only? Is this correct? correct for legacy, impreza used the 2.2 in '00 and i think '01. .
