Got a '91 XT GL with a snapped clutch cable....Sweet Jesus, who designed this set-up???

Can somebody please tell me how I can install the pedal side? I don't relish the idea of having to remove the steering column and everything else...but I simply can see no way for me to install the pin  without removing the entire pedal assembly from the car. Surely someone here has had to fight with this before...

I'm certainly open to any suggestions...

Probably the same as on my brat and it certainly is a PITA, but it can be done. Easiest way is to remove the driver's seat and get a portable light under there so you can see what you're doing. It does require patience; I couldn't even think about removing the pedal cluster. Good luck with it.

yeah, I pulled the driver's seat just so I could get at it, as I'm 6'2"....

my real problem is getting the pin installed, there is just no room for me to get at it. The same job on my '84 BRAT, while a real PITA, was child's play by comparison...

I just cannot believe how impossible this appears to be...been searching thru old posts here and I'm coming up empty:banghead:

XT's are a huge PITA. It may require letting the column hang. I barely remember doing one many, many years ago. Try taking out the bolts that hold it up. That may give you enough room. I will check the manual later. And see if you got it done or not.

Hey, maybe eye can help since I've recently fumbled my way thru this

procedure..

The trick was to remove the clutch pedal from it's pivot shaft by

carefully removing the C clip on the left side of the clutch pedal.

The pedal will slide off the pivot rod and then you'll have easy access

to that clevis pin that holds the clutch cable to the pedal mechanism.

I received great assistance from the membership so search for posts by my

username and you'll see the great guide I was provided...

Hope this helps, I was in the same boat a month ago!!

Cheers!

Gary, much appreciation and thanks! But I found your post all on my own !

Happy news is that I got it installed properly - it only took me three hours:horse:

Seriously, I hope I NEVER have to do that again....
