January 19, 201016 yr Ok....So... I put the heads. cams, covers..etc. now we go hook up the turbo and it looks like I got screwed by my machine guy. I think he pulled the old switch-ah-roo on me and gave me a non turbo head. 1986 GL-10 Pic Below is the back side of the passenger side head and we cannot hook up the turbo oil feed and drain lines up to this head. We do not see the bolts or any place to hook the oil lines up too. Does anyone think he swapped our turbo head for a Normally Aspirated head.
January 19, 201016 yr Author Also............... MAybe........does anybody have a picture, like the one I posted, of the back side of a head, (passenger), so I may compare. Thnks:-\
January 19, 201016 yr I notice that back of a head shot has nice clean bolt holes shown. Could those bolts be meant to be at the front of the vehicle? Could you have the left and right heads swapped?
January 19, 201016 yr That head is either on the wrong side, or it is an NA head. The bosses are all there though, you definately could have that head machined to accommodate the oil return tube and the oil supply feed line.
January 20, 201016 yr Author It has been confirmed now that the heads are indeed swapped to the wrong side. Impressive that it is even possible to do that. I guess on a NA block it would make installs a little easier but less so if turbo'd. Thank you to all who replied.
January 20, 201016 yr Seeing as you already torqued the heads down I would recommend getting another set of head gaskets. These things have a hard enough time keeping them in when they're done perfectly, twice crushed gaskets wouldn't have a chance I would think.
