:banana:Well I dont really know what is leaking cause it is dark, but from what I could see is that it is leaking from the behind the timing cover, under the crankshaft, guessing the water pump, or the water pump gasket dunno yet. have to wait till tomarrow.

 

Barely maid it home, saw white smoke coming out of the exaust. so guessing the HG blew. no coolent in the radiator. making nice bubbly sound like a bong

 

So which you guys think is better replace the motor or fix whats wrong with the motor.

 

I was thinking of putting in the turbo EJ22 Motor. if it came to it. I know I need the wiring harness ETC:banana: If possible putting the WRX motor:grin:

first step is to determine the problem. sounds to me like you just have a coolant leak and nothing is wrong with the headgasket. water pump, hoses, gaskets, etc.

 

if it's the headgasket then yes i'd get another lower mileage motor.

 

if it's just a leak then have the engine properly fixed. thing is - any engine you drop in there should have new timing gear, seals, water pump, gaskets etc or you have a chance of this having next year too with your new motor that has 10+ year old parts on it.

It is the upper radiator hose that was causeing the coolent leak, replaced the hose. started it let it set for 15 min till the car warmed up and reached the normal temp.

 

And now the car still over heats. it reaches near the red mark on the temp gauge but once I accerate the temp goes down to normal.

 

Got the Timing belt, waterpump and gasket, tenisors, pullers replaced 2 days ago.

 

Now what?

Was the coolant system burped? Very typical issue on these as the coolant system needs to be bled on this motor. Search for bleeding, burping, burp, etc and you'll likely fix your problem.

 

How long did you drive it with the leaking hose? You may have overheated it or run it hot enough to blow the gasket too. It's more likely that you just have a bubble in the system, happens all the time, but overheating is not good for any engine ever made - much less one that's 20+ years old.

If it overheats when sitting but not driving is it possible that the fan is not turning on? Maybe it is just unplugged?

the leaking hose was just the other night, well, yea I have not burped the radiator yet. I guess I will do that. and see what happens

well all it needed was a good pat on the back and a burping all good, for now.

 

now the fans dont turn on! WTF!!!

Check to see if they are still plugged in, check fuses in engine compartment box...

 

260K and the fans have not been replaced? It is likely they are now worn out. you should test for resistance across the fan motor(s). Open Loop or very high resistance means they are bad.
