Subieguy
Ok, I'm looking for a EA-81 hydro engine for my 84 Brat. Don't want to have to worry about adjusting the valves anymore. My question is what years and model Subarus did they come in. Obviuosly they did not come in the Brat and what year did they first start offering them? Jerry DeMoss
Basically '83.5 or '84 to '88 on the U.S. spec cars.
GeneralDisorder
'83 and '84 Automatic's only (including turbo's), and ALL '85-'89 models. And yes that includes Brat's. My '85 Brat had a hydro engine stock. GD
mountaingoatgruff
speaking of 85 hydro Brats... i have a hydro lifter EA81 longblock from my 85 Brat for sale if you're interested. about 160k miles on it, ran fine when pulled and i'm just not using it or the box of spare parts next to it (used EA alt, used hydro rocker assemblies, used straight hydro pushrod set, spare valve covers, nippondenso EA81 dist). i'd trade it all for other Subaru parts i want or $150. i also have the engine's old flywheel you could have - i don't know what kind of shape its in or what trans you've got for that matter but i won't use it either. i'm 4hrs from paso robles and could meet you halfway.
