January 29, 201016 yr I know this is not an Impreza forum, but there is lots of good tech knowledge here, and I don't know of any good Impreza forums.. so Just bought a 2000 Impreza OBS with 2.2. Timing belt was knocked off. Among other things, I was wondering about valve adjustments. My manuals only go to 1998. Does this engine use shims for adjusting the clearances?

Hang a good belt on it and test compression. May have bent a valve. Valve adjustment is a locknut and screw.
January 31, 201016 yr Author Thanks, Now if I can find a machine shop around Houston or Austin where I can trust the heads, if needed.
January 31, 201016 yr The 2000 Impreza should have the 2.5 L Phase II engine which has hydralic lifters-no shims. The current 2.5L engine with two position cam timing does have shims-two steps forward, one step back.
January 31, 201016 yr The 2000 Impreza should have the 2.5 L Phase II engine i thought 01 was the last year for the 2.2L engine in the impreza line, or any line in the us for that matter. i do not know what the rs or wrx or other models might have used, but the 2.2L was still used in the impreza in 00, i think.

Yep, looks like the 2000 Impreza had either the 2.5L Turbo or the 2.2L.
