XT6 Suspension Compressor not coming on

Featured Replies

I've searched a lot about this air ride susp. on this board, yahoo's and XT6's site but haven't found anything for why the compressor won't start. This also happened the day I bought it. Let it sit for 2 1\2 days and it fixed itself. One other time, I had the suspension fail on the way to work only to start it at the end of the day and it was fine. This is really cornfusing me. It was my understanding that a compressor will let you know when it is going to fail i.e. make some pretty nasty sounds. I apologize to everyone if this seems like repost. I did come across a thread where skip had helped someone get their compressor running but they did it via email not on the board. Any help or insight is always appreciated.

Is the pressure switch on the compressor tank in an open or closed position?

Is the warning light flashing?

The comp uses a relay and power from a fusible link.

I have the FSM email me if you like.

The light does come on after 10 or 15 minutes. The last time this happened I thought it was related to the cold temperature but it was 45 today.I also found tape residue on the sides of the warning light. The previous owner had placed tape over the warning light at some point(not exactly the fix I'm after).
