1981 front axles--best approach?

Featured Replies

If this is the wrong section for this post, please redirect this post and accept my apologies. Yesterday, I removed the front axles from my '81 wagon (car has less than 80,000 miles). The axles seemed in perfect shape (I took them out due to the typical noise associated with bad joints--but, maybe I was wrong?) My question is should I send these to MWE Axles in Colorado (widely recommended by many on this site but more expensive than local and shipping for my cores is ridiculous) or should I try a decent remanufactured brand? I am prisoner to the local AutoZones and O'Reilly Auto Parts stores...I really do not have much of a selection. Your input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

EMPI axles are your best shot.......and usually they are new, and the same price range as the ream-ans:)....

you vcan get cheap shipping from companies online as well.look around, don;t be defeated so easily......cheers, brian

Brian---Okay, I have a lead on place. Sure these are better than MWE's? I found it odd that the warranty on the rebuilt stuff is actually longer than on the NEW EMPI's!! Oh well, thanks again.

I haven't had a bad EMPI yet - though I think I have a boot going out on one. They have been good to me for the price.
