March 21, 201016 yr Anyone know the torque specification for a pressure plate to fly wheel? the Haynes Manual says 132-144 ft-lbs but seems a bit high and we snapped one at 60 ft-lbs
March 21, 201016 yr pressure plate to flywheel is closer to 12 foot pounds, the 155 could be in inch pounds. Use a 1/4 inch drive ratchet and give it the old good and tight, use locktite if you're worried.
March 22, 201016 yr Author Yeah stupid Hayes manual I was like wow that's pretty tight seeing as the flywheel bolts are only 55 ft-lb. we'll just do 20 to be safe seeing as we got it to 45 with no prob.
March 22, 201016 yr I'd go with 12, a team of super genius Asian engineers came up with that number. Just sayin.
March 22, 201016 yr 12 ft lbs. is the number. any more than 20 is enough to warp the pressure plate, the disc, or even the flywheel.
March 22, 201016 yr Author Yeah in hind sight 20 sounded off lol. I only went with 12 and tomorrow begins the fun part of putting everything back together!
March 22, 201016 yr Live and learn, we all knew everything when we were 22 And I was probably worse then most.
March 22, 201016 yr Author So whats the best way of getting the transmission back on? Right now we've been slightly turning the flywheel while wiggling the trans to close the little 1/2" gap that's left and still doesn't seem to do anything.
March 22, 201016 yr Author yeah it was in neutral it just need ed a good pushing on so we just tightened all the bolts. These Haynes manuals sure aren't reliable for the torque specs though.... couldn't fine any for the transaxel mount.... just said to tighten it.
