Ej22 timing belt issues

Featured Replies

I did the head gaskets on my uncles 91 legacy wagon and now when I

start the car it ticks really loudly. I tried reinstalling the belt quite a few times

but it still ticks. So can It run with maybe 1 tooth off but tick? Also the rad it not installed.

i dont think the timing belt has anything to do with your ticking.

It will run a tooth off. Your engine is not interference so the ticking is not the valve hitting the piston.

The lifters may have to pump back up, this can take some time.

5-30W oil is recommended.

i installed a 96 that had been sitting for over a year and it took a while for it to quiet down, but it finally did. it made a racket but after i put it all back together i let it just sit and idle, it took a while.
