I am about to put a 1 1/2 inch block lift on as a practice for when I do a larger lift, and I was wondering at what point do I have to extend steering and brakes etc. and how far for a 4 inch wich will be the final size of the lift. My rig is a 1983 gl wag. dr.

...a lot of that, and I do believe any body lift will require a steering extension. Now, if you're talking a suspension lift to start with the 1.5's, then no. You won't likely find an exact measurement, even for a specified size like 4", because the specific vehicle can vary from others. Or get several different sizes of knuckles, and you may be able to combine them to the right length. I'd be prepared to weld, though. :)

anything after 3 inch will need a extension on the steering also you will have to bring done the motor 2 inches if you lift it 4 inches you have to drop the rear diff 3 inches tranny mount 2 inches with an 83 you have to block the whole strut bar in the back and uy a longer shock or create a extension for the shock

you can do a 6 inch body lift on a gen 3 with out extending the brake lines, and for the steering you can combine a power steering and non power steering linkage
