EJ swap with EJ trans ?

Featured Replies

i can´t find any good pictures of how you guys run a EJ trans,

do you have the driveshaft custom made ?

what do you do about shift linkages ?

what do you do about the trans crossmember ?

thanks,

Oskar K.

Caboobaroo is working on this right now in his 86 RX*. He's having problems finding the right setup for the x-member as his body style is a little different, it used to have a AT in it. He had to have a driveshaft made also.

i have done a few of these now.

the rear drive shaft has to be shortened. then ballanced

the shift linkage also has to be shortened.

and the crossmember you have to use a three piece member. for cars 87.5 and later you can use the front and rear sectons from an XT6 and the center piece from an impreza. for older cars, you have to cut and reweld the rear section. its about an inch to wide.

I believe the drive shaft has to be shortened 2". What options are there if xt6 parts are not available? I had planned on installing my ej and ej trans and seeing if I can modify what I have to work. Is there enough under a 87.5 and up L to cut, weld etc?
