May 21, 201015 yr what will it take to do the swap i don't want to cut the car up so if that's involed i am not going to do it
May 21, 201015 yr its been done and yeah i seem to remember that they had to cut the front of the engine bay to fit it in
May 21, 201015 yr i also think it has to be cut. the only way you might get around that is to relocate the radiator. crack i'm trying to think of who has done it...Loyale something or another, the guy in another country I think? yellow car...i'm real foggy on details at the moment. what do you think about an EJ22?

Loyale 2.7 Turbo is the name you're after
May 22, 201015 yr Loyale 2.7 Turbo is the name you're after excellent work. i think archimetes...sp?...also put one in an EA vehicle.
May 22, 201015 yr Several people have done the swap. All had to cut to do it. Most had to relocate the radiator as well. Adam, archemedi, Subaru Brat, to name a few.
May 22, 201015 yr EJ it. Ton's of legwork done already. Way more EJ swaps have been done, and the engines are way more common and easy to get parts on. As well, they are arguable much more "solid" and have fewer quirky problems than ER and it's associated engine managment (assuming you where to use a stock ECU) No modification of the enigne bay needed and here's how the # look: ER27=145 hp EJ18=110 hp(but lots of torque) EJ22 = 130+(? not sure about phase II) EJ25 = 160+(and cheap to get needing HG's) EJ20 or 25 with Turbo(s) = 200+++ Keep in mind it's easy to get 5-10 hp bump from just an exhaust and intake set-up.
