May 23, 201015 yr found a really good deal (200) on a 93 loyale that the time skipped a tooth.. what should i look for.. dont the valves get bent?? any easy fixes?? is it worth my time?? thanks.
May 23, 201015 yr These motors are non-interference motors. So if the timing is not correct, noting terrible happens (meaning no smashed valves/pistons). I think the car wouldn't run, or run well if the timing was off 1 tooth (correct me if I'm wrong)
May 23, 201015 yr One tooth off would probably make it run with very little power. I did one that was three teeth off on the drivers side, and 180 degrees off on the passenger side (before I learned how to do them properly), and it actually did start.... ran awful, then died and wouldn't restart till I'd fixed the belts. They are non-interference engines, so there's no possibility of damage -- just fix the belt and you're good. Z
