February 18, 200422 yr Ok folks this saturday we're leaving north seattle at 8am and will meet up with Qman and whoever else down there at 4Corners. The plan is to try some trails near Black Diamond and then head east out to near Kangley and Kanaskat. The trail conditions are very loamy and moist with very few rocks. Breakage shouldn't be much of a problem due to minimal friction. This will probably be a half day deal but you could play all day or head on up to Greenwater or Evans Creek for more if you wish. Give me a call at 206 890 1522 for more info.
February 19, 200422 yr So. . . see you at my house @ 07:50? I'll be here with Brian and probably a Jeep and a girl. TEX?????

February 21, 200422 yr well, i set the alarm at 6am... but i usually dont wake up to it right away and I need some time to load the spare tire and stuff into the car- if you would be so kind a 630ish wake up call would be nice! (or 7 if thats when youll be up) see ya then!
February 22, 200422 yr I had a great time. Wasn't anything real crazy but fun(except for Rob's exploits) all the same. I finally got to present Rob(Turbone) with his Badge of Honor. Austin earned his set as well for the '80 wagon. (That may have had a heavy price though) I'm sure he'll elaborate later. This trip was not without carnage though. MikeW ripped a strut top off. Turbone ripped the rear diff hanger loose and then off. Austin found his car is waterproof interior wise. But it soaked everything else. We managed to temporarily fix and repair all damage and everyone left under their own power.
February 22, 200422 yr Author Hey it was good to see you all again, it's been a while. I was most impressed with Austin's driving, very skillfull and controlled, power and finese at the right times. I didn't think he'd be able to get his unlifted and unlocked wagon to those places but he did with ease and no carnage. I was also impressed that Patty is so mechanically skilled. Good catch Austin. Rob put on the best show with his wildman routine. Dang, that was cool. Hope there's some pics and video since I didn't have my camera rolling. Zap, Qman, and Mudrat make scary manuevers look casual. These guys have so much experience wheelin' Subarus it boggles the mind. The special guest apparence by Mudrat was a cool surprise. I wasn't too happy about dislocating my strut in the first five minutes of the run but I kinda asked for it. Thanks to Mudrat's ratchet strap technique it held together very nicely. Maybe brand new strut tops aren't such a bad idea. Thanks for going folks and hope to see your pics!
February 23, 200422 yr Thanks for the Kudo's guys. It means alot coming from the HP Founders. Was I really that wild?
February 23, 200422 yr Author Nah Rob it just looked wild. You wheeled that baby like a pro! Caught me off guard, sure wish I filmed it. Next time I video I'll keep it powered up and ready to shoot.
February 23, 200422 yr Author I was just wasting some time at the 'puter and found a photo of what that place used to look like. Durham Mine, Aug 1, 1919. It's kinda changed a bit since then huh? The story here
February 23, 200422 yr Rob's been able to hang with us the whole time. He just always did it in a Mazda pickup. :lol You'll notice EZ didn't go into the deep part of the mud holes, he doesn't have any protection for the disty or carb. Here's some photos I took from the video I shot. http://usmb.net/gallery/HatchPatrol04 I'm hopin' that one of you will produce video of my little escapade up on the hill where I slid down into the ravine. . .
February 24, 200422 yr Author Yep I have video of that. As so often happens with pics, it doesn't look as precarious as it was in real life. But if my filming sucks it's because I couldn't decide weather to keep shooting or run over there in case you started tipping. You sure know the tipping point and behaviour of your car. That was some awesome driving.
