Fuel lines

Featured Replies

I've been searching around on here for awhile but can't seem to find the answer i'm looking for. I'm gathering parts for an EJ swap into my 86' loyale. I picked up up a turbo 89' loyale today for some various parts. I know i'll need the FI fuel pump from the 89' but will I need the fuel lines too? Is anyone running the stock carb fuel lines with an EJ? Should I just buy all new fuel line? Thanks for any help.

I'm using stock carbed lines, and I'm sure others do too, without any problems. Since you have a FI parts car though...the lines are there and free, with a fair bit of labor.

I think there's a difference between 2WD an 4WD fuel lines. The 4WD fuel lines are 8 mm (same as EJ series an EA Turbo) and the 2WD are smaller. As long as you have a 4WD you'll be fine.

Fuel Injection hose is built stronger, to withstand larger amounts of fuel pressure generally found on fuel-injected cars. Standard fuel line is not able to withstand these pressures over long periods of time.

I guess the bottom line is either shell out for some FI hose and have the piece of mind for the future, or have a good nose for gas and carry several lengths of standard hose around with you for good measure.

+1 fo rthe hoses, but what about the fuel lines that run along the sill?

The hard lines? I'm pretty sure as long as they aren't rusted as fuck you should be okay. I haven't heard of anyone having problems with the hard lines before, only the hoses.

been running my orignally carbed 86 wagon for about a year now with the EJ swap with no issues. but i replaced all the rubber hose with fuel injection grade hose and its been fine.
