Increase fuel economy

Featured Replies

I have a 92 loyale and I only get about 22 mpg in the city. I guess it's not too bad but I was wondering if I could do better. What are some things I could do other than hypermiling to increase mpg? What sort of mileage are others getting?

if you're driving in town there's probably not much you can do. what kind of driving are you doing? stop lights, stop and go, etc?

have you taken any trips, if so what did you get then? if not, wait until you have a long, easy trip and see what mileage you get them.

just for general mileage you can search here or on the internet and see, there's an entire list of basic things you can do.

I mainly do stop and go. I have gone on a longer trip and I think I got closer to 30.

And the car is a manual.

Is this a 4wd? I had an '89 fwd sedan 5spd 2wd that would regularly get in the high 30's. Got 41 once heading back from Nashville with a strong tail-wind just about the whole way. I would think you would get better mileage. Might need tune-up or air filter, possibly o2 sensor. Got a check engine light on?

It is the push button 4wd. That's amazing getting into the 40s! Mine probably needs a tuneup. And I don't gave any check engine lights.

Has anyone done any mechanical modificatios ie new intake or a different muffler to improve mpgs?

Product called Ethos will help. Increases fuel efficiency and helps engine run cleaner.I've added 1-2 mpg more every fill-up since using for the past 2 years
