August 13, 201015 yr So ive decided that I was kinda tired of dodging pot holes and plowing snow in the winter. I have always enjoyed driving on dirt and watching rally. I have found a way to go to school and take on this project, soooo I thought I would document my conversion. I am currently selling my coilovers i had on my car which are the HKS hipermax 2 and waiting for my new setup. Hopefully I'll get them soon. Thanks to flat4motorsports for helping out. These will be my new coilovers: Hot Bits rally suspension. For daily driving and messing around in the snow ill be using these tires: With these rims: they are being sent to the powder coater tomorrow to make them black. This is my rally-X tire/rim combo thanks to harvey for trading me for the 17" BBS rims I had. End result should look something like this for my daily set up: (NOTE: not my wagon just a example of what mine will look like) Goodies to come: *Rally Innovations light bar *Hella fog lights *Hella Horns *Rally armor or custom made skid plate and rear diff protector. Ill keep it updated as i get things done. Current pic of my car: A lot of changes to come.
August 13, 201015 yr Awesome you're actually doing it take a bunch of pix. And maybe I can take a ride in it when your done.
August 13, 201015 yr *Rally Innovations light bar I can't see your pictures at work, so I can't tell what year WRX you have. If you have an '06-'07, DO NOT get the Rally Innovations light bar. I have one on my STI, and it wobbles so much that I never bothered to put lights on it. They're a total joke in the rally crowd, and it's with good reason. Jacob
August 13, 201015 yr I really recommend Primitve Racing for beefy skidplates. They are rally proven and well made giving you confidence that your oil pan will remain intact. They are very reasonably priced too! Here's the link: http://www.writerguy.com/primitive/skidplate/skid_details.htm
August 13, 201015 yr How about on a 02-03? I hear you can do pull-ups on the 02-03 style, but I'd still research it more and make sure they didn't redesign it or something. I wouldn't rest my beer on the '06-'07 style, though. It may be best to avoid them altogether and get some stuff from Primitive or AllWheelsDriven. Jacob
August 13, 201015 yr I've got one of Primitive's 3/16" thick skid plates on my lifted Loyale and it has withstood several beatings on central Oregon lava rocks. Very much worth it!! I know their WRX skid plates are just as strong in 3/16". I think that they might have a light bar available too, but it would be good to call and check first. If not I'm sure they could weld up something for you. Edited August 13, 201015 yr by cmiller
August 14, 201015 yr I really recommend Primitve Racing for beefy skidplates. They are rally proven and well made giving you confidence that your oil pan will remain intact. They are very reasonably priced too! Here's the link: http://www.writerguy.com/primitive/skidplate/skid_details.htm I second that opinion on the Primitive Racing skidplate. I've got 4 or 5 seasons of rallycross on mine and it's save my oil pan numberous times.
