Need Help with Bearings

Featured Replies

I have a 90' Subaru legacy front wheel drive. My rear bearing is ready to be change and I was looking for a bearing on eBay , but I'm not sure whats the part #. They have a couple for four wheel drive, but I don't know if it is the same fit. If anyone knows the part #??? it would help alot thanks

I searched the OEM catalog, I can't even find a wheel bearing for non-4wd.

That might mean that iit's the same part for 4wheel and 2 wheel drive??

Hm that one is tricky, none of the Subaru dealer sites seem to list that one.

Some info I found showed TIMKEN Part # 512036 Ball Bearing; 3.937 in. Bolt Circle Diam; 4.960 in. Flange Diameter; 2.539 in. Flange Offset; 56 mm Wheel Pilot Diam FWD; Non-ABS; Rear

Looks like it is the hub and bearing together as a unit; I'm assuming that's because it is FWD.

Bad news: 90 FSM: "The hub and bearing are combined as a unit and cannot be disassembled."

So, although you can remove the hub from the spindle, it looks like all you can do is replace the hub.

A used hub/spindle is probably your best bet. Check www.car-part.com I've found some great deals through there and usually you can find a local option if you want to avoid shipping, etc. Excelent resource.
