November 2, 201015 yr A friend is asking me about this.. I haven't seen the issue yet but he tells me his drivers side headlight is not working.. He says it looks like the headlight socket is burned looking.. I asked him if he switched headlight bulbs to see if it was the bulb (never got a straight answer) Anyways he was asking me if I could replace the connector part that plugs into the bulb. I think the 2002 Forester used H4 bulbs? First I have to see if voltage is getting to the socket but like I said to him the wires just don't look burned for no reason at all. hmm seems like this is a common issue for the 2002 forester Edited November 2, 201015 yr by 1-3-2-4

IWhat I got is called a "Socket/Pigtail Assembly"--found it at Carquest, part # "S-526." Most parts stores probably have something similar, essentially a generic socket to fit a halogen lamp. Y' just gotta' get the counterguy's nose out of the vehicle specific catalogs so he can go and actually look for it!!! i picked my pigtail up at advance auto parts for $3.95 i think. saved me the 22 mile trip, one way, to my donor car.
