Have a 99 OBW with a overhauled (2.5l 5-spd) engine, runs great, get the check engine light (comes on sometime flashes several times and then remains steady) Engine seems to run well when light comes on, no loss of power, just runs well. Changed out the ignition module, coil and just had the injectors swapped, still get the darn light.....can't be certain, but same code might have been with old engine. Told could be valves? ECU? Has anyone had anything similar?

Many thanks,

Jay

Unfortunately, Misfires are common on the '97-99 EJ25. Check the threads on here for what others have done to fix it...or that didn't fix it. :-(

Yes, a burnt valve would cause it, but should show up in a poor idle, etc.

New OEM plugs and wires? Add those if not.

Get new OEM plug wires, and Make sure they are not running too close to the injector wires.

Use a section of plastic wire loom wrap (the corrugated stuff) on each of the plug wires where they run near the Injector wires.

Make sure the injector wires don't have any knicks or exposed strands of wire and if they do wrap in electrical tape.

Moved the plug wires around (new OEM wires) made sure they were snug. Misfire on # 3 is gone, Misfire on cyl 4 came back, noticed wire was on top of injector wire, ssecured it away from injector wire, so far no CEL (only about 50 miles) keeping my fingers crossed! Many thanks to ALL!!
