Fuel sending unit removal?

Featured Replies

What is the best way to remove the passenger side fuel tank sending unit (combo unit with fuel pump) on a 1999 OBW ? I've tried once with no luck, didn't want to break/bend anything without checking with THE experts! Do you have to get the float out or tie it to the main unit? Thanks for any help!

IIR rotating it a bit helps.

You just need to "finesse" it out.

It is like birthing a cow, carefully.

Remove the bolts. Lift out the unit, then move it around, angle it, be gentle with it, but it will come out. If you are generally gentle with it you wont break anything as it is not fragile.

Yep, Like everyone else said, just turn it, angle it to pull it out. Just be easy with it. You don't want to bend the float arm. Same with going back in. It's an easy job, just takes some maneuvering.
