Old gen or Bust!

Featured Replies

After falling in love with my '82 GL wagon and better getting to know my '89 touring wagon, I've decided I will be selling my Outback and whatever money I get out of it I will put into rebuilding the EA81 in the GL and possibly doing an EJ22 swap on the touring wagon. These cars are just so much more fun to drive. I'm also not a big fan of full time AWD. Understeer + body roll = MY HAIR IS TURNING GREY ALREADY?

Anybody have the same opinion on newer Subarus?

I'm with you 100%. I just picked up a 96 Legacy Outback, but I already know I won't enjoy that car as much as my 87 hatchback. I also am not a big fan of the full-time AWD. I'd much rather have shift-on-the-fly 4WD. Plus the gas mileage on the hatchback is great. Subaru has unfortunately abandoned good gas mileage in their newer offerings.

Jordan, I feel ya. I still long for my 84 Hatch. The STi, RS, and even my Outback can't compare to the love I had for that thing.

The first gen legacy's kept much of the same driving feel as the old ones. 95 and newer got a kind of numb feeling, not sure what it is because they use the same parts, but they don't drive the same for whatever reason.

I'm with you all the way. I love my 82 gl more than anything I have ever owned! I mean I really like my 02 wrx, but there's something about the old gen that just feels better, maybe it's my plaid seats :brow:
