Not sure if this is where I ask a question so I apologize in advance if its not. My Legacy floods when not cranked for a few days. I replaced injector o-rings and put in a used pressure regulator. No smoke now but runs slightly rough. Cranks fine daily. Issue is when not used for days, Help! Prob seems to be getting worse.

I dont know if this would apply to the Subaru Boxer engine, But on a chev. V8 I had the valve stems seals allowed oil to leak down in the cyclinder after sitting for a day or so and it would smoke a lot on start up.

This would also make the engine smell as it was flooding.

 

 

After rereading your post, I see you resolved the smoke issue, so the above information will not apply to your problem.

It cranks just flooded. Heavy gas smell. Plugs wet with gas. Have to hold pedal to floor to start. Doesnt happen if I start it daily. Runs rough until the excess fuel burns off then its fine. If I crank it daily no issues.

Leaky injector(s) provided there is no gas in the regulator vacuum line.

When you put the pedal to the floor, it shuts off the injectors and opens the throttle all the way allowing a lot of air to mix with all that fuel, which helps it fire.

I replaced the o-rings I suppose it's possible I didn't get one seated properly. I'll try reseating them. Without sounding to ignorant (I'm no mechanic ) could my leaky valve cover gaskets be contributing to this prob?

No.

 

Bad o rings will give too much air when running,not fuel.
