March 2, 200422 yr I just bought an 04 legacy. I've been hearing about a few problems with these models and would like to know what folks have had trouble with. My only problem was that mine was delivered with a bad O2 sensor, and was back at the dealer the second day I had it. I do enjoy the car and hope it remains more trouble-free than my last car, a 96 Mystique.
March 2, 200422 yr Non-working cd changer from new, Bad 3rd gear (stick) from new, Steering wheel not aligned properly from new, Pass side mirror had the black plastic coating come off, Doesn't like reverse 50% of the time. Orange peel Poor fit and finish Paint doesn't match on plastic That's about all I can come up with for the first 4.5k.

March 2, 200422 yr '04 WRX Wagon 3(!) new O2 sensors (yes, one was replaced twice). Rear window seal acts as a water reservoir (Doens't leak into the car though) Intermittend shudder when getting off the gas when at high boost. But I absolutely love the car, dealer has been really good on fixing the issues (so far). Rob.
March 2, 200422 yr 04 Legacy Limited Wagon 6,000 miles...need a new piece of trim in the cargo area. That is all so far. Love the car so far.
March 8, 200422 yr No mechanical or other problems yet, about 4500 miles. Fuel mileage is mildly disappointing, 22.5 mpg last tank.
March 8, 200422 yr 04 Impreza 2.5RS gearbox is harsh and annoying with 1st and Reverse... just waiting until i hear that piston slap... She has been good so far with 7K
