February 9, 201115 yr I've been searching this site for over an hour trying to find the maximum size tire I can get away with without a lift on my 97 OB Legacy. OEM is 205-70 with the 15 inch rims, can I run a size bigger? Can anybody point me towards resources or personal experience? Thanks Jay
February 9, 201115 yr I'm sure others will chime in with real world experience, but in the meantime you can play with the Tire Comparer on this site: http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp On one side you can plug in your existing specs, then try variations on the other side.
February 9, 201115 yr 215-70 15 or 205-75 15 without lift. Any bigger will rub. As far as I know no one has tried 215-75's on a stock 96-99 outback but from what I've seen they'd rub pretty bad. Keep in mind different brands and models of tire will have slightly different specs. Edited February 9, 201115 yr by daredevil1166
February 10, 201115 yr i have 215/75R15's on my lifted legacy and they only rub when pinned on turning and that's just enough to know they are rubbing the tires clear the struts by 1" you'll need wheel spacers if you wanna run m/t's on the stock 14" rims want pics of the spacing i have offset specs too
February 11, 201115 yr Author Thanks for all of the replies. I think I will stick with OEM size for now seeing as to how I wouldn't gain but maybe half an inch. Ill start looking for some other options next year when I have it payed off. Thanks again.
