i put a 4 speed tranny from a 81 hatchback in an 86 brat . i ordered new axles from empi an used the 86 brat as my vehichle locator . the ones they sent are subaru but they are about 2 inches too long . do they make different lenghts or am i missing something obvious ?

You got EA82 axles because you ordered for an "86" which to a lot of catalogs mean EA82. You need '84 axles.
