March 12, 201115 yr I have a 2003 Baja with 150,000 miles. I recently had an oxygen sensor replaced (actually there was another name for it but that is similar) and the mechanic said I had a small crack in a gasket on the drivers side and was leaking antifreeze. It is leaking outside the engine. I cannot afford this repair ($1000) at this time and the mechanic also mentioned there was a gasket on the other side...not yet leaking . Have done some research on products similar to the one in my title. Anyone used them?
March 12, 201115 yr go to the dealer and get the ''coolant conditioner'' from them. these engines are supposed to have it added to the coolant to prevent leaking. it will likely slow or maybe stop your head gasket leak. for a while any way. some one may know the ''off brand'' name of the subaru conditioner. you want to keep the coolant topped up. you do not want the engine to over heat. that is bad and may force you to replace the gaskets.
March 12, 201115 yr IIR Hotts or Holts stop leak. But it's like 2 bucks a bottle at the Subaru dealer so I just get it there. You can out 2 bottles in.

March 12, 201115 yr The blue Subaru "conditioner" bottle actually has Hotts/Holts molded into the bottle. That's what I was going by rather than knowing what the contents look like for instance.
March 13, 201115 yr Add a bottle of Subaru's stop leak to it. I'd personally add two bottles if it's already leaking. Occassionally the conditioner can stop an existing leak. Keep topping off the fluid and these things can run another 100,000 miles while leaking externally. Just don't run it low or out of coolant and it won't overheat. This is classic EJ25 headgasket issues, happens to thousands of people. Subaru had an extended 100,000 mile headgasket warranty for them from 2000-2002.
March 13, 201115 yr I put 2 bottles of the Subaru (Holt's) coolant conditioner into my leaking 2003 outback wagon. It had an external coolant leak, that was going on for about a year, and it has basically stopped it. It may leak slightly, but not enough to notice. Praise to all who gave me that great advice. I was getting ready to change the head gaskets, but not anymore!!! matt
