April 23, 201114 yr Author timing belt + water pump and all idlers getting replaced next month last known replacement was 66,000.. at least what I saw in the car I was going to do the ebay kit... now with my EJ22 I used a ebay kit and the belt.. but since I have a DOHC now I think I should use a better belt? Dayco perhaps?
April 29, 201114 yr Author time for her first oil change and replacing the coolant.. which I think one bottle is enough right? I don't remember off hand but it uses what was it 6.3 or 6.8 qt which I think is a tad more then 1 gal?
May 29, 201114 yr There's 4qt in a gallon. :-p But, seriously, if you get a bottle of straight coolant and not the premixed stuff, you'll have 8qt after you're done mixing it.
May 29, 201114 yr Also anyone know if you can mix gear oil weights? I have a bottle of 80w-90 I have yet to use and I was just curious.not a big deal. the diffs need fluid, not much to them really. keep them filled with clean fluid and they'll treat you right.
May 29, 201114 yr Author not a big deal. the diffs need fluid, not much to them really. keep them filled with clean fluid and they'll treat you right. yep thats what I've been doing.. and I've been doing some thinking thats pretty much how they killed the tranny on this car.. the first 3 weeks I had this car it was drinking the transmission fluid now it's stopped but the damage has already been done.
October 28, 201114 yr I have a 1997 Legacy Outback. I just recently moved to Denver and it has gotten cold really fast and we had our first snow. On occasional cold days it would not start right away but now - with the snow it is especially stubborn. I took it in to the mechanic. He replaced the battery. But it still won't start up unless I press the brake pedal to the floor while I turn the key. Why would this effect the starting of the car? Is this an indiation of something else that is wrong? Any info or insight would be greatly appreciate.
October 28, 201114 yr Author that's odd.. I never heard anything like that before.. Today we got our first frost and it was 35F out this morning and my car had no problems.
