1982 GL Fuel Gauge / Sending Unit?

Featured Replies

So when I fill up my gas tank the gauge registers and usually indicated about 7/8 's full.

Within about 50 miles are so it's buried on empty. Interesting enough though when I get to about 2 gallons left, or at least I'm guessing due to gauge inaccuracy the the low fuel tank light illuminates orange.

My guess is a bad fuel sending unit?

Thoughts, suggestions?

The contacts on the sensors get corrodid and cause problems like that. There could also be a bad connnection somewhere. Chances are the sensor contacts are bad. Sometimes using a cleaning product like Techron gets things working again.

Ok, not sure on where the electrical connections are on anything other than a BRAT. But,,,

Check your connections at the sending unit, you may find them corroded... Have had that same issue you describe happen on a few of mine..

On the BRAT's, they are located on the back of the tank, other EA81's could be in the same area.. I can't say for sure, as I've only owned BRAT's..
