Will Outback doors fit Legacy?

Featured Replies

I've got a '95 Legacy Wagon with rusted doors and a line on some '98 Legacy Outback doors- will they interchange OK?

(Yes, I also do own a '98 OBW, but the Leg and the OB are parked 60 miles away from each other, so I can't quickly compare myself)

Thanks!

Nathan

I dunno about front doors, but rear doors will not work.

they should? all 95-99 Legacy/Outback doors swap. there's variations in electronics, interior panels, etc but that doesn't prevent doors from swapping.

In 97 or 98 (both outback and legacy) they added an extra post toward the bottom of the door to give the car more rigidity in a crash.

Your 96 will not have it, but if you look at a 97+ there's a black post downward of the main latch.

The doors have a receiver that doesn't clear the inside of the door frame.

I tried to swap a newer outback door onto my 96 legacy. It bolts on and almost closes. The door could probably be clearanced with a grinder or BFH, but I didn't want to go there.

Anyway, experience is talking, it won't work for back ones. I'll check in the AM if the front door has the same change or not.
