Have a 96 Impreza coupe may need steering rack. (hard to turn) will a 96 Legacy rack fit??? some places I've seen say yes and others are specific.

The racks are pretty rock solid. Make sure it's not the pump.

 

I've had them side by side and I do believe they will swap. There is plenty of thread on the rod ends to adjust the toe.

 

When you put it in, make sure you remove the little clamp on the lines and make sure you don' cross threat the hyd line fittings.

I am just lurking as Blu needs a rack too. His leaks, and really leaks at 80 plus mpg.

THANX!! gonna try a pump this weekend first, hard turnibg seems to come and go (just lessens) not totally gone. Diff. in price between two Impreza costs more therefore the question.......Le3gacy listed as much as 50.00 less on e-bay

www.car-part.com is a good source as well for used parts from yards if you can't find one locally.
