New Ecu

Featured Replies

If i end up needing an ecu for my 1988 Subaru DL, im told there are differences between cars and whatnot. What do i need to do to verify i will be purchaseing the right one.

Ben

P.S. if anyone has one id like to get your price on it.

There should be a identification label with a part number on it to use as a reference. I have worked on a couple of these that had fuel pump circuit problems. The same transistor went out in both of them.

You can call your local dealer and they'll give you a part number based on your vehicle's VIN. Just get the ECU somewhere else.

Problem is that i dont know what the deal is, i dont have the car in front of me at this point. But i wasnt getting power to the fuel pump or the disty.

Check your fuses and verify power is getting to fuse 5, 11, and 12. If those are ok then the ignition and fuel pump relays need to be checked and verified they are working.

There's an 89 Loyale in the upulit here now. Think it's a 2wd5mt. I could pick the ECU up for you this weekend if you like. They are pretty cheap and I would just need you to cover purchase and shipping if you are interested in it. Would get it in the mail Monday after work.

yeah anything 86-88 is a really quirky transition period for subarus.

it's EA82 right?

anyway - car-parts.com has a fairly extensive Engine Computer selection for that year, should be able to identify something there. takes some detective work, select what you want - if you see 15 listings of one part number and 4 of another - the one with 15 is usually what you need....if that makes any sense, or just match up the exact vehile/year/model/vin number/letter. some of the places delineate information well on there.

i have one from an 88 4wd spfi AT laying around...
