March 11, 200422 yr I have a noise coming from the drivers side front tire when I apply the brakes. My only guess is that the brake pad is so far worn down that its just pressing metal against the roter or whatever it does...heh. My question is...are there any other things that would make this sound when you press on the brakes? Or is my guess most likly correct?
March 11, 200422 yr depends on the noise, but it is worth getting checked out immediately. not too wise to ignore noises coming from the front end...
March 12, 200422 yr Dont some of the newer cars have wear sensorsthat make noise?Describe the noise to us that helps.
March 12, 200422 yr But it could be a wheel bearing too. Jack it up and spin it and rock it for play. Then pull the wheel and inspect the brake pads. Should tell you right there.
March 12, 200422 yr What about turning? That could be a loose gasket on the axel...forget the exact name of it. However I agree that it is probably a brake pad. If you end up changing it yourself, let me know, I am interested in attempting a brake job on my 1993 legacy just to replace the pads.
March 12, 200422 yr Eop, you really ought to replace the rotors at the same time - o rat least have them resurfaced. You will run into premature problems if you replace only the pads. Btw, brake job is quite easy, and there will be plenty of support from this site
