Does removing the A/C and PS really have much difference on power output (remember, we're talkin a whopping 97 horses) on an 86 XT? How hard would it be to do this? (I've searched but haven't found much material on this) What about swapping out the mechanical radiator for an electric one? Any replies would be great.

It wont affect power output,but it will affect where the power is going.It takes horsepower to run those accessories,ponies that get robbed from the drivetrain,

 

If I can relate a fact:A Caterpillar 3406 E diesel that produces 425 hp,loses47 hp to the air compressor,cooling fan,a/c and power steering pumps.Same story,different engine.

you will notice some gain in power. more likely you will notice a gain in fuel economy.

 

as for power robing, get this

 

a top fuel dragsters supercharger takes 750HP from the motor.

Just like they said, U will not make any more power, but U WILL get more power to the wheels, an under drive pully would help too. Definetly dich the mec. fan and go to an electric one. Synthetic gear oil in the tranny and dif. will help a little too.
