September 22, 201114 yr Hey there, i like what you are doing with this car. I have two gen 1 wagons myself, one I drive every day. I really love these cars and you will too, I can see that.
September 23, 201114 yr Author thanks man yeah i love this little car i cant wait to drive it ok started out today but cleaning the head mating surface dad prying out the valve seals passenger side pistons drivers side yes she needs a good seafoaming torquing down the heads assembled the stair-down proof i did more then take pictures lol empty up....... ......and in running video of the quiet valves the timing and the dwell as well as the carb settings are way off its getting tuned tomorrow threw the air filter on it to see how its gonna look
September 24, 201114 yr Author well i tried to tune it today and im thinking the carb needs a rebuild
September 25, 201114 yr Author carb rebuild kit on the way i was very tempted to pull the weber 32/36 off of my 610 just to drive it but decided against it considering i cant take my only running car apart untill this one is reliable so ill rebuild the carb and run it this winter then then next summer when the datsun has its twin side drafts on it the subi will get the weber i must say i love rockauto.com even with shipping the parts are still cheaper then the parts houses
September 29, 201114 yr Author tore the carb apart it was digusting i also drained the fuel tank because there was water and old fuel in it so with a rebuild and fresh fuel it should be good to go
September 30, 201114 yr Author rebuilt the carb and took it for a drive talk about a gutless wonder thing can barly get out of its own way but i love it lol
September 30, 201114 yr Nice!!!! I took my Brat out for a ride tonight as well.... I just love cruising around in it and having so many heads turn wondering "what the hell is that" or the older folks with the "I havent seen one of those in a long time" looks on their faces...
September 30, 201114 yr Author yeah still a few things that need to be done like i need to make the fuel pump work on its own rather then an alligator clamp on the positive side of the battery make it so the tires stop going flat (leaking from the bead) but other then that im basicly ready for winter in my little 4x4
October 1, 201114 yr My 1979 subaru wagon doesn't have the odd lug size I put ea81 white spoke stock rims on it the only problem I had was they're wider so I had to use wheel spacers. That and I converted mine to run off propane, I love my 79 goes any where in the snow
October 1, 201114 yr Author wouldnt that still be the odd lug pattern? the typical 3 lug pattern is 4x41/2 for most rwd cars and 4x4 on most front wheel drive
