September 3, 201114 yr I am sure it has been covered here numerous times; search engine didn't readily find it for me. I am getting ready to redo the seal on valve covers and I can't really remember the maxim (15ft.lbs?) and I tend over tighten as it is. 2000 2.5 SOHC Thanks!
September 3, 201114 yr 15 Ft/lbs would likely snap them right off. Go with 25 INCH/lbs and you'll be just fine. No one actually torque's those BTW. They are shouldered - we just tighten them using a 1/4" ratchet. GD

September 3, 201114 yr so maybe just tighten until it stops, then a hair further with the ratchet? I use the 1/4 ratchet in the palm of my hand. As GD says the shoulder of the bolts bottom out pretty firm all of a sudden.
