why not? people have made 4.44 DR ej transmissions,I have climbed up hills or made it though mud holes that people said was impossible in a car.Impossible just means it hasn't been done yet.

The 6speed uses r180 diffs and all the other subaru transmissions use a r160. So they're somewhat swappable. I'm sure with a bunch of machine work a sti front diff could swap in. They're just bigger.

Why try machining a STi 6spd front diff to fit in a 5spd case when you can buy an OBX helical front lsd for under $400?

prity sure i recall ripping out a front diff 3.9 out of 90 turbo and it having clutch packs on the drive spiders?

........well im going to look agen anyho ..

turbo rears had 3.9 VLSD's. subaru had no front diffs with LSD in those older vehicles. if you saw one, it was aftermarket or custom...and maybe that's why you had to open it up and see it, someone was in there before and hacked it up
