To add to a previous Q about 4wd indicators [solved]

Featured Replies

I get the "4Lo" dash indicator, check, good.

But should I not also get a "4Hi" indicator when it is in High?

Mine doesn't show anything in 4Hi :-\

IIRC:

In 2WD - Nothing on the dash.

In 4WD HI - 4WD pops up (4WD and all 4 wheels illuminated on dash)

In 4WD LO - Same as above except a little yellow strip says 4LO.

Thats how mine is.

My Loyale had PB 4WD (4HI) and the 4WD pops up (4WD and all wheels illuminated on dash)

Yeah, I'm not getting the illuminated wheels or the 4wd, only the 4Lo when in Lo :(

Burnt bulbs in the cluster? Previous owner did use it for a moderate amount of off-road and camping.

I dont have much experience in the burnt bulbs part... I never had burnt bulbs and I used my Loyale a lot offroad.

The indicator light bulb could be burnt, not saying its not a possiblity.

You might also have a broken connection between the 4WD switch and the indicator.

Edit: Especially if he had it offroad... It could have come loose and disconnected.

Did you have the indicator lights working when you got it or is this the first youve tried them and they didnt work?

No, I noticed it as soon as I got it home after purchase, I'm just really slowly sussing out all of the little repairs I have to do, as I'm not quite on the road with it yet. I know that the 4Lo works (crawled it up a nearby road hill last week) and would assume that 4Hi works too. I'll dig into the switches this week to check them, as I'm not up to pulling the dash apart AGAIN just yet. The switches are located under the shift boot, yes?

On a separate note, from the on-going exhaust repairs.... it appears I have NO O2 SENSOR?! As in, strangely, there isn't even a bung on the cat/Y pipe for one, and a cut orange wire to a connector atop the tranny. Oh well, runs fine enough :D

A super easy check/repair: make sure all the wiring harnesses are connected! There are two or three couplers on the transmission harness and one could have popped loose or become corroded. This is a way easier check than tearing apart...everything. And if it ISN'T that, then you can move on to the next hardest check/test.

Fixed. Switches were just a bit "sticky". Vigorous wiggling of the transfer shifter worked them loose, all of those indicators now work. Thanks.

Yeah sometimes my 4wd green wheel indicator lights don't go but i just wiggle the 4wd and it will go most of the time. i dont care though cause its still in 4wd haha

I just loosened the two bolts that hold the shifter assembly to the tunnel and tapped everything back (there is some adjustment) now my 4wd and 4wd low lights work

it must have got used tomuch when it was new:-\
