  1. Yes its both left and right, kills the gauges unless the hazard switch is pushed. If you push the hazard switch then the turn signal switch the dash is ok. The turn signals never work regardless
  2. Thanks. So I gotta track down wiring issues fml. Why couldn't it be a simple problem (anything but wiring) lol. And yes it is the cluster lights AND gauges that go out.
  3. i have a 2001 outback if you turn the turn signal on it will take out the dash lights and gauges.after a little time they come back on. the four ways work and if you unplug them you have no turn signals but the gauges work. i tried a new turn signal switch and ignition switch. there was no change please help thank you.
  4. Lol sorry been gone awhile. Fortunatly I managed to buy a house, unfortunately it made me not afford anything for my car for awhile and quite possible have to sell the car altogether

  5. I have an ea81 but I too can start it with just about anything, and can pull the key out while running
  6. this is what im starting with, made the front push bar and fiberglassed and altered the stereo surround(which needs finished)
  7. ok so trying to figure out how to upload pics......
  8. Maybe I'd be better off waiting on a complete motor

  9. also...... eventually wouldnt mind upgrading the engine just not 100% what i wanna go with yet, havent heard of any problems with the 81 besides lack of power but maybe turbo would help??? biggest job i think will be the body work but maybe not. ill keep the build progress posted.
  10. I mean I know it's possible just will the motor hold up to the turbo

  11. Well I could be if they could be made to work on an ea81 na motor, I dunno if it's possible to make a non turbo motor turbo?

  12. Well got my new axle and wheel studs in today, waiting on my new drums/rotors to get hear. Won't be long now and I'll start lifting and bodywork on my 83 wagon. Got some cool looking 6 bolt steelies from a Isuzu rodeo to go with, yay:banana:
  13. well......guess id be interested in the 81 turbo if you have the stuff i would need to go with it to turn my na 81 to a turbo

  14. went to local parts cons for new rotors and drums for my 83 wagon, they couldnt figure out which ones i needed cause i guess there are options in date of manufactur???? or some crap. will any drum/rotor for an 83 work or whats the difference:-\
  15. Nice brat. Not to take focus off of your new ride but u said the bull bar has notches for the chrome bar, what is the chrome bar for? Mine is toast and I'm not gonna replace it if it's just cosmetic. Anyways nice car.......truck....... Ya I want one lol
  16. I just loosened the two bolts that hold the shifter assembly to the tunnel and tapped everything back (there is some adjustment) now my 4wd and 4wd low lights work
  17. it does start ok most of the time, but sometimes it seems to wanna start rich. when messing with the choke cable i noticed that its not opening the choke all the way and its not the cable its on the carb on the lean rich control. i noticed the screws on the control were loose to i tightned them, then the throttle would stick open so i had to loosen them again and the choke just wont work right
  18. ya its a hitachi, i dunno if i wanna swap it out i need to research the pros and cons, the only con i have found so far is money. seems to be the rain on everyones parade though. maybe at some point
  19. im a gm guy myself, my other project is a 82 trans am (would rather sell it than work on it). in the short amount of time ive owned this car its the most fun one ive worked on yet, the options are endless. my only wish is that parts and parts cars where more available around this area
  20. i wanna lift it some more but not real sure how to go about it... i dont wanna buy a lift kit cause well lets face it money is hard to come by, so im just experimenting till something works. im probably not gonna do a engine swap cause i hear the 81 is a good enough engine, i will probably just try to find a rebuild kit and try my hand and small motor stuff. really i just want a dd/weekend toy. ive got this vision in mind of it looking similar to a sidekick or tracker as far as clearance and tires go. and i do want to fix most of the rust, and i already have my paint figured out when its ready
  21. sweet, thanks alot. when i got the car home i couldnt even get into it cause of all the ants, i took me weeks and lots of bait traps to clear them out. anyone know why all the plastic inside is so rubbery and brittle? so far ive redone the radio bezel again with some fiberglass and some plastic welding, raised the front with strut toppers and turned the tortion bar up....or down..........i raised it lol. ill put up the newer pics later under the correct thread. im going this weekend to lower the subframe a little to straighten out the cv joints a little and hopefully correct my camber. this girl i know wrote on the back window "when i grow up i wanna be a ford" lol silly girl, she calls it the naner car for obvious reasons. since owning it ive had 3 different offers on it but i just cant see myself parting with it. thanks for your help guys (or girls)...
