October 17, 201114 yr How do I get it out? It threads in right? It's a yellow rubber/plastic capped thing with a ring on top. I was told I'll probably break if i force it, and should have another on hand. I need to drive the car so I don't want it to be out of commission for much time. 95 Legacy 2.2L 4EAT
October 17, 201114 yr just pushes in and pulls out, no threads. try to twist it back and forth a little at a time, penetrateing oil might help, they dry out inside and don't want to come out, if you get it out in one piece grease it before replacing hope this helps.........G
October 17, 201114 yr If it hasn't been removed in a while, it can be difficult to move. Mine hadn't been touched in at least 4 yrs when I removed it first. It was a bear, but suggestions mentioned above are good.
October 17, 201114 yr They sometimes get a bit of corrosion inside the tube if they aren't taken out much. I just keep twisting it while pulling on it and usually it will free up. If you can get some Kroil down in there that can help too. Then I put some silicone or other grease on the plastic part to keep it freed up. Once you get it out, it might be very loose though, since the o-ring often shrinks and cracks with age. I usually replace that to help it stay seated.
November 23, 201213 yr Temperature, temperature, temperature! It's a bad design. If it's hot, the plastic expands more than the metal and it gets tight. Let it cool, and it pops right out with a little bit of a twist.
