I bought traded for this car a while back and the guy told me what to do with the alarm in case the battery went dead but I have since forgotten. I DO NOT have remote entry. Just one single key is all he gave me. I know I am supposed to push in the button under the dash and hold it until the doors lock. I also have the key turned to the on position while holding the button in. I just don't know what to do after that? I tried 3 times and it turns over but will not start. What I would like to do it Disable the Alarm. Thanks for any help.

Long term solution............Ace Hardware stores and Autozone advertise that they sell replacement remote entry fobs. Prolly less costly then going to a Subie dealer.

I don't know of a short term solution.

Thanks for the info.. I finally found a solution for now. I disconnected the ground to the battery and waited 10 Minutes. I then turned the key to the on position and then reconnected the battery. Turned the key off and then it started right up. I looked at a lot of ideas and none of them worked until I found that one. I also did find a diagram of the complete Factory setup and in it the guy said I could have just disconnected the Starter Interrupt Harness for a second and then back in and then it would have started. Didn't try that as the first worked good.

what year, model of car?? different years have different issues.

my wife locks our '01 outback H6 with the remote and the alarm sets. i unlock it with the key and the alarm sounds. this disables the starter.

but if i put in the key and try to start it 3 times, it will start on the fourth time, (off to start and back).

And if it's a late 90's I have some keyfobs here heading to Ebay.

I have on esquare one and one a little more teardrop shaped.

Both probably need batteries by now.

Called Autozone and they said they would call me back on the price which they never did today.

Does the FOB's work with all Subaru's? Mine is a 97 Legacy GT. Sedan. DOn't they need Programmed?
