CEL Code's 35, 11, 13, 24 Where to start?

Recommended Posts

I have had my CEL going on and off for sometime now and it's time to get rid of it. Mostly because I have to bring it in for emmisions..

So the CEL seems to come on when the car warms up and then randomly goes off.. I finally figured out how to pull the codes (thanks for the write up)

With nothing connected I get Code 35 with the White test connectors it get a 35 (Purge Control Solenoid or Circuit) 11 (Crank Angle Sensor or Circuit),13 (Crank Angle Sensor or Circuit) 24 (Air Control Valve or Circuit )

I have no idea where to start.

Thanks in advance for your help / replies!

get a voltometer and test the sensors according to a chiltons/haynes manual that should yield all the answers you need. on a side note these cars are alot smarter than you think so if it says theres a problem there.. theres a problem there. lol also i have the same problem..(random cel) but i havent been able to get it to stick so i can figure out what it is..

p.s i have a 91 spfi parts wagon if you need something i have it.

What I usually do when I have a bunch of codes is write them down, then clear all the codes.

As soon as the light comes back on, check it. It'll probably only be one or two codes, not a whole slew. Then work on fixing those first.

Often times one problem will cause more than one code, but generally you won't get all the codes at the same time.

So as soon as you see the computer is upset, figure out why.

These older cars aren't as picky about it, but for example on the Legacy a bad O2 sensor can cause O2 code, rich condition, misfire, cat efficiency, etc, etc.

The longer you have a problem the more codes it's likely to throw.

Yeah the problem is I can't get it to store the code. Ive tried to pull the codes. But I get nothing so because it only comes on till i get into boost I think it's like rich condition or low oil pressure nothing I think Needs to fixed right away it goes away and stays away

Let me know if you Need parts I've got em for low low ( free) prices just Pay shipping

You will get the crank sensor code if you pull codes when the car is not running.

Milesfox: that is great to know, thanks for that info!

So I have read just about every purge control thread on here, seems like I can trick the ecu with a 33ohm 5w resistor.

However I am uncertain how to go about this. Haven't work with resistors and solenoids..

Do you just connect the two connectors with the resistor?
