February 12, 201214 yr Hey guys I'm in need of EA82 heads. I'm fine with used if they are in good shape. I have one head that needs rebuilt badly. Its making a real bad ticking sound. Doesn't burn any oil and the ticking comes and goes but it seems to have gotten worse. I don't have the tools to rebuild heads myself and don't have the funds to have them done. If you have any please send PM. Thanks guys....Pete.
February 12, 201214 yr before you change the head. first. run a bit of seafoam in the oil. (you can get it at walmart) some dirt could be causing your stuck lifter. (this fixed mine) if that doesn't work reseal the oil pump. if that doesn't work reseal the cam tower. if that doesn't work replace a lifter.
February 12, 201214 yr Author rebuild your oil pump Would affect just one head? I have noticed the pressure fluctuating and showing lower pressure even with RPM above idle. Do they have kits? Edited February 12, 201214 yr by oleman77
February 12, 201214 yr yeah it can affect just one head. seriously though run some seafoam first. the next place to look is new gaskets for the oil pump.

I have put in the stuff that says it helps quite noisy lifters. Seem to help for a while but hasn't lately. It continues to click. I guess I'll rebuild pump. Can i get it out without pulling engine? I'll give it a shot, Walmart? Also if that doesn't work do I just change the gaskets on the oil pump or rebuild it?.
February 12, 201214 yr okay so you already did a cleaner. cool. (seafoam is just a good cleaner that can be added to the oil and run through the engine to clean it up) I have read of a few instances where the reseal wasn't enough and the car needed a whole new pump to fix the issue. but that is not common. yes you can get to the pump without pulling the engine. the timing belt drives the pump. have you done timing belts?
February 12, 201214 yr Author No have not done timing belts. Probably should replace at same it time huh? Do you recommend rebuilding pump along with new gaskets?
February 12, 201214 yr I would suggest rebuilding the am towers. This gives you access to the lifters, and a chance to replace an o-ring that usually will suck into a pacman shape and lose pressure to the lifters, causing the tick.
